Offaly’s vaccination centre is moving

The venue for Covid-19 vaccinations in Offaly is changing, with the jabs set to be administered at a different site from early next week.

The vaccination centre at the Tullamore Court Hotel, which opened in early May, is closing today (Friday).

The HSE said it would be replaced with a new vaccination site at Mucklagh Community Centre, on the outskirts of Tullamore. Vaccinations in Mucklagh are due to get underway from Monday next, August 30.

This is one of a number of changes to vaccination centre sites across the country, as the proportion of unvaccinated people continues to decrease.

The Midlands' largest vaccination centre, at the Athlone IT International Arena, will also be shutting down this Sunday, August 29, with vaccinations instead being provided at Moate Community Centre from September 2.

Covid jabs had been provided at the Tullamore Court Hotel since the May bank holiday (Monday, May 3) with vaccines administered to more than 700 people in its first two days of operation.

The HSE is understood to have plans to maintain "a network of vaccination centres" into 2022.
