Emergency services at scene of huge fire at Glenisk plant

Gardai and emergency services are currently battling a huge fire at the Glenisk factory in Newtown, Killeigh which has forced the closure of the road between Killeigh and Annaharvey.

The blaze is believed to have broken out around lunchtime.

Staff are being evacuated from the premises and ambulance crews are also at the scene to treat people for smoke inhalation.

The award-winning Glenisk plant is believed to have suffered extensive damage, and all crews from Tullamore Central Fire Station have been deployed to the scene.

An Garda Siochana have asked members of the public to avoid the Killeigh to Annaharvey road, as only local access will be allowed for the foreseeable future.
