Weather warnings issued as Ireland braces for two storms in three days

Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice are set to deliver a one-two punch in the coming days, with Met Éireann warning that damaging winds, heavy rain and blizzard conditions are on the way.

A status yellow wind warning for the entire country will come into effect at noon today and will remain in place for 24 hours.

Met Éireann said the warning, associated with Storm Dudley, will see winds reaching average speeds of 50 to 65 km per hour, while damaging gusts of 80 to 110km per hour are expected.

Storm Dudley will barely have passed before the expected arrival of Storm Eunice on Thursday night.

The national forecaster said the latter storm "has the potential to be a multi-hazard and disruptive event" with damaging winds, heavy rain and snow possible.

It's currenty anticipated that the strongest winds from Storm Eunice will be in southern counties, while the most significant falls of snow are expected in the midlands and north, "with local blizzard conditions possible" threatening disruption to travel.

Weather warnings for Storm Eunice will be issued today and updated tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
