Earlier today (Monday), the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, announced grants of some €7.4 million to support 175 community projects nationwide.

The funding is being provided through the CLÁR programme, as part of the Government's 'Our Rural Future' policy for rural development.

In Offaly, €50,000 was awarded to Croghan Local Development Group for the provision of public toilets at Croghan Community Centre.

The Shannonbridge - Clonmacnoise Community Hall was given €49,500 for a renovation of the facility in order to create a meeting space.

In Kilclonfert, some €39,693 was granted in order to provide additional car parking facilities adjacent to the local community centre.

Car parking works were also funded in Dunkerrin village, with €49,500 going towards the creation of a village centre parking area.

"I want to congratulate all of the successful applicants and I wish them the best of luck in carrying out these works which will make our rural communities even more attractive places to live, work and raise a family," commented Minister Humphreys.
