Site visit marks the start of Killeigh community centre construction

Earlier today (Thursday), the voluntary committee behind the new community centre in Killeigh formally 'handed over' the site for the development to the builder who will be constructing the €1m facility.

Committee members gathered this morning outside the former Macra Hall, which is to be razed to the ground and replaced with the new purpose-built centre.

The handover of the site to the builder is a major milestone, as years of planning and organisation was required from the voluntary committee in order to bring the project to this stage.

Martina Gorman, PRO of the Killeigh Community Centre Development Association said the construction firm building the centre, Allen Kenny Construction Ltd, from Rahan, would now be starting work its there.

It is hoped that the community centre can be completed by the end of 2023.
