Offaly causes to benefit from Tesco Christmas Food Appeal this weekend

Local good causes including SVP Birr, the Offaly Volunteer Centre, and the Ken Smollen Food Appeal will be attending trolleys in Tesco stores across Offaly this weekend as its annual Christmas food appeal takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (December 2-4).

Last Christmas, Tesco stores in Offaly collected more than €6,400 worth of products for local community causes. Shoppers are being encouraged to donate one extra item from their trolley to help ensure a similarly successful response this year.

The Tesco Ireland Christmas Food Appeal is now in its ninth year and is run in partnership with FoodCloud.

Customers can add their donated products to trolleys at the front of the store, which will be attended by local good causes or OLIO Food Waste Heroes.

Tesco said the following items were suitable for donation to the Christmas appeal: Tea bags and instant coffee, sugar, breakfast cereals, soup (tinned or packet), soft drinks, tinned vegetables, pasta and pasta sauces, toiletries, nappies, or toys.
