Offaly captain makes hurling 'team of the week' after Kerry win

Offaly senior hurling captain Jason Sampson has been named in the Gaa.ie hurling 'team of the week' after playing his part in the county's 11-point win against Kerry in Tullamore.

The Shinrone man was singled out as one of the weekend's star performers after he produced a a sterling defensive effort and also got his name on the scoresheet with a point yesterday afternoon.

On social media, the official Offaly GAA account praised the "great leadership" Jason had shown, saying the accolade was "well deserved".

Yesterday's result means Offaly will be guaranteed a place in the Joe McDonagh Cup final irrespective of the result in their final group game against Carlow.
