Next Tuesday, June 6, marks one of the most important days in the history of the Offaly arts sector, when President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, travels to Tullamore to perform the official opening of Esker Arts Centre.

The President will perform the official opening on Tuesday morning and the event will also include performances by some of Offaly’s finest artists.

The special event, which is the culmination of many years of fundraising to bring an arts centre to Offaly's capital town, will include an address by President Higgins and will be attended by many of those who have been instrumental in the long-running campaign to bring the Esker Arts Centre project to fruition.
