Contracts signed for next phase of Tullamore Regeneration project

Site clearance work is due to get underway in Tullamore this week on the next phase of the major Urban Regeneration project for the town centre, following the signing of contracts with TOBIN Consulting Engineers.

The signing of the contracts for the O’Connor Square to Church Street Link, Urban Garden, Civic Space & Remote Working Hub Project is a significant sign of progress on the much-anticipated project to transform the town centre.

The project will link O’Connor Square and Market Square over the Tullamore River, provide open space which will act as a pivotal connection between the two key squares, build on the existing remote working facilities in Tullamore with innovation space in the town centre and contribute greatly to placemaking.

The team from TOBIN will commence surveys, design and plans for Part 8 planning and public consultation this week, and will also begin site clearance works in the town.

"We are excited to be part of this key project in the broader Tullamore Urban Regeneration and our Design Team is keen to bring our experience and expertise to work with Tullamore Municipal District to deliver an attractive and sustainable solution" said Brian Gallagher, Project Director, TOBIN.

Cllr Declan Harvey, Cathaoirleach of Tullamore Municipal District, spoke of his delight at the commencement of the project and said the link from O’Connor Square to Church Street "will be beneficial for Tullamore Town Centre and will incorporate the historic ‘Hidden Bridge’ behind the Library."
