Works begin at Ferbane Playground

Local election candidate Jonathan O’Meara and Deputy Carol Nolan have welcomed the news that works have begun in earnest to refurbish Ferbane community playground by Offaly County Council.

Earlier this year, Independent candidate Mr O’Meara together with Deputy Nolan called on Offaly County Council to make Ferbane playground a priority application to the Department of Children in 2023.

Commenting on the redevelopment of the new playground, local election candidate Mr O’Meara said:

“I would like to congratulate all of the county council staff, tradespeople and engineers who are presently working on this project. When completed the new revitalised playground will provide children of all abilities a safe place to play while ensuring they can experience the delight and adventure that comes with playing outside in the open air. Playgrounds are crucial in the development of children, not only for their physical health but also for their social and emotional development and as a meeting point it can also break down social and cultural barriers. I hope that this new playground becomes a central hub for the entire community.”

Concluding, Deputy Nolan said that she was delighted to see that work had commenced on the playground in Ferbane:

“A number of families in Ferbane and surrounding areas contacted myself and Jonathan about the need for equipment to be replaced. These concerns were brought to the attention of the Senior Executive Engineer John Mitchell and his team, who I want to thank for ensuring that the playground which had fallen into disrepair, was prioritised. The playground when complete will no doubt be a great and enjoyable facility for many young families in Ferbane and surrounding areas.”
