Part-time firefighters being recruited in Tullamore, Edenderry, Clara and Ferbane

Offaly County Council is looking to recruit part-time firefighters who would work out of its fire stations in Tullamore, Edenderry, Clara and Ferbane.

The council is currently advertising the retained firefighter roles, and there is a closing date for applications of November 30 next at 4pm.

Candidates for the roles must live within close proximity to their local fire station, with the council stating that this means within "a five-minute radius" of the station, or another reasonable distance as approved by the Chief Fire Officer.

The council said a panel may be created from which vacancies arising during the lifetime of the panel will be filled.
