Registration opens for next month's Ashling Murphy road race in Tullamore
An annual Ashling Murphy memorial road race in Tullamore, which attracted more than 600 participants last year, will be held this year on Sunday, May 19.
The four-mile event is hosted by Offaly Athletics, and supported by Centra.
Online registration for the race opened yesterday (Thursday) here.
The Ashling Murphy Perpetual Trophy is presented to the first lady finisher, and in 2023 was claimed by Courtney McGuire of Clonmel AC.
The overall winner of last year's race was Eoin Everard, of Kilkenny City Harriers, who clocked a time of 19.22.
Offaly Athletics said the race will be the first in the Offaly Buildmore Endurance Series, and also serves as the Offaly 4 Mile Championships.
"It's race 3 in the Pop Up Races Peugeot Series, so there are plenty of both individual and team awards up for grabs," said Offaly Athletics.
The entry fee is €15 and the race will start and finish in Tullamore. Walkers will start at the earlier time of 9.45am, with runners off at 10am.
