Gold medal glory for Offaly boxers at Defence Forces tournament in Germany

Three Offaly boxers who are part of the Defence Forces boxing team have returned home from a tournament in Germany with gold medals.

The boxers were competing at the prestigious Multi Nations CISM boxing tournament.

Held in Warendorf, Germany, this week, the four-day competition included the best military boxers from Ireland, France, Latvia, Netherlands, Germany and Slovenia.

And there was a strong Offaly contingent involved with Sgt John Molloy, of Daingean, serving as the Irish team's head coach.

Three Offaly boxers in the team; Pte Luke Hensey (57kg) from Daingean, Pte Tiffany O'Reilly (70kg) from Edenderry and Tpr Brian Kennedy (92kg) from Daingean, starred at the event with all three bringing home the gold.

The Defence Forces Team, which was captained by Pte Tiffany O'Reilly, completed a rigorous and intensive training camp ahead of the competition this week.
