Gardai back launch of Tullamore Lions Club 'Message in a Bottle' initiative

Tullamore Lions Club recently launched its 'Message in a Bottle' campaign which is aimed at helping emergency services access vital information about vulnerable people quickly and easily in a crisis situation.

The initiative directs the emergency services to information stored in a plastic bottle which is kept in the fridge of vulnerable people, and people who live alone, or those with medical conditions or allergies.

The 'Message in a Bottle' launch was this week supported by the Tullamore Community Policing Unit and its Crime Prevention Officer.

"From the perspective of An Garda Síochána, the Message in a Bottle initiative is a simple yet effective programme which assists First Responders and Emergency Services during emergencies, particularly when individuals are unable to communicate their needs," stated An Garda Síochána Laois Offaly in a social media post.

It added that the visibility of the 'Message in a Bottle' stickers acted as an immediate indicator that vital information was available inside, streamlining operations and allowing first responders to act decisively.
