A massive Garda operation is underway in Dublin ahead of the Europa League final this evening.

Major traffic disruption is expected in the city, with roads near the Aviva Stadium to be closed off from 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Italian club Atalanta will take on Germany's Bayer Leverkusen, with over 30,000 fans expected to descend on the stadium.

Alan Morrin, who is helping to organise the event, told Newstalk: "Lansdowne Road Dart station will be closed today from 4pm and all passengers intending to use the Dart will be directed to either Grand Canal Dock or Sandymount Dart stations.

"Just to note, the gates to the Dublin Arena [Aviva Stadium] will open at 5pm, and the advice is to arrive early and soak up that pre-match atmosphere."
