Charity Ice Cream Party in Clara a huge success
An Ice Cream Party fundraiser for Down Syndrome Ireland hosted by local woman Antoinette Geoghegan in Clara last month has raised an incredible €1,720 for the charity.
Antionette explained that her and her husband used to host regular Ice Cream parties to raise funds for Down Syndrome Ireland until Antoinette's husband passed away in 2010. Since then, there has not been an annual fundraiser, but Antionette has said that she intends to get it going again.
This year's party was “a huge success”, said Antionette. “The generosity of the local people was amazing. We had a great day, with the house open from 3 to 6 and had callers all day, despite it being a windy and cool day."
A bouncing castle for the event was kindly donated by Gallagher Event and Party hire, and Baggot's Centra sponsored half of the ice-cream, with Antoinette herself providing the other half. The local St.Vincent De Paul also donated crisps, minerals, and chocolate.
“The day was enjoyed by all!” concluded Antionette.
