Offaly's Michael Duignan co-commentates on his 25th hurling final in a row
Former Offaly hurler and ex-county board chairman Michael Duignan reached a broadcasting milestone yesterday (Sunday), when he co-commentated on his 25th consecutive All-Ireland hurling final day with RTÉ Sport.
Michael's voice has become part of the sound of the Irish summer, and, ahead of the clash between Cork and Tipperary, the Offaly GAA county board congratulated the 57-year-old Banagher native on his impressive accomplishment.
"On the biggest day of the year for hurling fans, there is no one more respected or trusted behind the microphone," stated the county board.
"Michael is the best at what he does, his deep knowledge of the game, the players, and the competing teams makes for insightful and compelling commentary every time.
"His honest, fair, and passionate voice has become a staple of All-Ireland final day, heard by hundreds of thousands of fans around the world.
"Michael has always represented Offaly with pride, integrity, and class, both on and off the field, and this milestone is yet another testament to his dedication to the sport.
