Padraic Joyce has extended his stay as Galway manager for another three years.
Joyce has been in charge since 2020, helping Galway win the last four Connacht titles.
Galway also reached two All-Ireland finals, losing to Kerry in 2022 and Armagh in 2024. Their 2025 season was ended by Meath in the quarter-finals.
In a statement, Galway GAA stated: “Galway GAA have extended Pádraic Joyce’s term as senior football manager until 2028. Details of the backroom team will be finalised in due course. We wish Pádraic, the management team and our senior football squad the very best of luck going forward.”
In hurling, Derek Lyng has extended his stay as Kilkenny manager for another two years.
Lyng took over from Brian Cody in 2022, and has guided Kilkenny to three Leinster titles, as well as an All-Ireland final in 2023.
There will be changes to his backroom set-up though, including the acquisition of former Kilkenny forward Eddie Brennan and ex-Dublin defender Niall Corcoran to the coaching team.
Kilkenny have not won an All-Ireland since 2015.
In a statement, Kilkenny GAA said: “Derek Lyng has been ratified as the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Manager on a two-year term. He will be joined by selectors and coaches Michael Rice, Peter O’Donovan, Eddie Brennan and Niall Corcoran. Kilkenny County Board wishes Derek and his team the very best of luck for the seasons ahead.”
