Impressive number of Offaly players selected for national tournament
An impressive total of eleven Offaly soccer players has been selected to represent the Midlands Schoolboy League at this summer's pretigious Kennedy Cup tournament in Limerick.
Clara Town, Edenderry Town, Gallen Utd and Tullamore Town will all be represented at the tournament, which has long been recognised as one of the highlights of the juvenile soccer season in Ireland. This year's competition will be staged betwen June 8 and 12.
Clara Town goalkeeper Luke Daly and defenders Daniel Craig (Edenderry Town), Jamie Hoey (Tullamore Town), Rhys Land (Edenderry) and Conor O'Brien will hope to help the team out at the back. Edenderry's Cian Mooney and Tullamore's Lee Monaghan are selected for the midfield.
In attack, four Offaly players have been chosen for the squad: Conor Horkan (Tullamore), Adam Kelly (Gallen Utd), Cuan Meehan (Tullamore) and Kyle Robinson (Edenderry).
In congratulating the 20 players selected from acrwoss the midlands, the Midlands Schoolboy League said that everyone chosen has shown 'tremendous commitment, ability, attitude and hard work' to earn places in the squad.
