Tullamore's Sami heading to World Cup with Ireland

Tullamore's Sami Tahraoui is due to captain the Ireland FootGolf team today (Wednesday, June 3), as it begins its 2026 FIFG FootGolf World Championships campaign in Acapulco, Mexico.

The event takes place until Sunday, June 7, and for Sami it is a second appearance at the World finals.

Speaking to the FootGolf Association of Ireland website, Sami said he first got into the sport after trying it out with some friends. He then competed at his first tournament, the Irish Open, in 2022, and cites his best memory to date as qualifying for the World Cup in Orlando, USA after hitting three hole-in-ones in one round.

Sami, who says his favourite FootGolf courses in the country are at Quinagh House, Carlow and Blacklion in Cavan, will be hoping for further success in Mexico this week.
