Packed schedule for Offaly's Disability Awareness Week

Offaly County Council, in partnership with the Offaly Public Participation Network (PPN), Chime – National Charity for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People, the Offaly Disability Equality Network (ODEN) and National Learning Network Tullamore, has announced a programme of events for Disability Awareness Week 2026, taking place from today (Monday) to Friday, June 12.

The week aims to promote inclusion, accessibility, awareness and community engagement through workshops, open days, recreational activities and educational events across County Offaly.

On Tuesday, an inclusive physical activities hosted by the Offaly Sports Partnership in Lloyd Park, Tullamore, from 11am to 12pm.

From 1pm to 2pm, the National Learning Network will host a Pathways to Education and Employment Workshop, supporting individuals in exploring opportunities for learning and employment.

From 2pm to 4pm, the Offaly Local Development Company, in conjunction with ODEN, will deliver a Diversity and Inclusion Workshop in Tullamore Library.

On Wednesday, June 10,The Edenderry Disability Group will host a Coffee Morning in The Cabin, Edenderry, from 10am to 12pm, offering an opportunity for community connection and conversation.

Throughout the day, Chime Tullamore will welcome members of the public to its offices on Church Street, Tullamore from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm to discover the range of services and supports available to Deaf and hard-of-hearing people.

Free hearing test appointments with a Chime Audiologist will also be available by prior booking. Booking is essential and must be made by Friday, 5 June.

Parents and adults are invited to attend Assistive Technology to Empower Learning, a workshop delivered by LOETB and Chime in Tullamore Library, from 11am to 12pm on Thursday, June 11.

At 2pm, Riverview Resources, Avista Services, Birr, will host an Open Day, showcasing its facilities, services and achievements.

On Friday, June12, the final day of Disability Awareness Week begins with ODEN’s “Any Bag Any Bin” Dog Fouling Stencilling Project in Daingean from 10am to 12pm, promoting accessibility and cleaner public spaces.

The week concludes with a visit to Ballykealy Social Farm, Five Alley, from 2pm to 4pm, where participants can enjoy forest bathing and nature-based activities. Places are limited and booking is essential.
