Mucklagh pupils claim FAI schools national honours
The pupils of Scoil Colmáin Naofa, Mucklagh, claimed national honours at the FAI Schools Primary 5s National Finals Day, in the Aviva Stadium Dublin on Tuesday.
Representing Leinster in the Girl's 'B' Cup, medium schools competition, the Offaly school won all three fixtures to claim the title and return to the school with the sought after silverware.
The competition was group based and the school with the highest points tally following their three outings on the Aviva Stadium sod were the overall winners.
In their first match, Scoil Colmáin Naofa defeated Breaffy NS (Mayo) 1-0, and this was followed by a 3-1 win over Pilltown NS (Waterford). In their closing game the girls overcame the challenge of Raphoe Central NS (Donegal) to remain undefeated in the competition.
To add to the Scoil Colmáin Naofa jubilation, Alice Cunningham was named 'Player of the Tournament' following the trophy presentation.
