Edenderry woman is volunteer of the month

Offaly County Council's Community & Culture Volunteer of the Month for June was Rosie Ryan from Edenderry.

Rosie has been volunteering with Edenderry Disability Group for the last 20 years, She got involved after the passing of her husband Joey who was blind. The group aims to create awareness of the rights and the needs of people with disabilities among policy makers, service providers and the public.

Rosie also volunteers with Young at Heart, Circle of Friends and most recently with the recently formed Edenderry Community Garden Group. She is the hands on person for all community groups that meet in The Cabin, Edenderry, liaising with Offaly Local Development Company (OLDC) on all Cabin matters. Rosie is Offaly County Council’s Community & Culture June Volunteer of the Month.

As 2026 has been declared International Volunteer Year, each month in 2026 Offaly County Council will shine a spotlight on a member of the community who volunteers their time to make a difference in their community.
