Declan Rice, Reece James and Marc Guehi missed group training as England began preparations for their World Cup quarter-final with Norway.

Thomas Tuchel gave his players two days off to recover from Sunday’s historic last-16 win over Mexico and they returned to work at the Swope Soccer Village on Wednesday.

But Rice, James and Guehi trained individually as they manage their load.

There is no suggestion they will be unavailable for Saturday’s crunch clash with Norway in Miami.

James was on the bench at the Estadio Azteca following a hamstring injury which ruled him out of games against Panama and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Rice has been managing a hamstring injury since December and had to come off against DR Congo with “terrible pain”, but played 90 minutes against Mexico.

Jordan Henderson remained at the team hotel as he recovers from wrist surgery to repair an injury suffered during the celebrations on Sunday night.

Jarell Quansah trained with the group on Wednesday, with the Football Association still exploring its options around a potential appeal to his red card against Mexico.

Former England striker Peter Crouch was in attendance in Kansas City following his animated celebration with Harry Kane in Mexico going viral. Crouch received his FA legacy cap before the session.
