High temperature warning in place for Offaly
A Status Yellow High Temperature warning has been issued for Offaly, and eight other counties.
The alert is in effect from until 8pm this evening Friday, and highlights the potential impacts of the hot weather, including heat stress, an increased risk of forest fires and drought conditions.
Authorities have also warned of heightened water safety risks as more people are expected to visit lakes, beaches and other waterways during the warm spell.
People are advised to take precautions in the heat, stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day, and exercise caution around open water.
