Edenderry music artist to perform songs of an era at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre
Edenderry music artist Helen O'Dwyer, founder of the 'rat pack' era band, Frankly My Dear, will open for Luke Thomas and The Swing Cats on their 'Kings of Swing' tour, in Birr Theatre & Arts Centre on Friday, July 31.
Frankly My Dear is a music act blending elements of jazz and Broadway, encapsulating the 'glitz and glamour' of the roaring twenties.
Helen O Dwyer will treat the audience to the timeless Etta James song 'At Last' during her performance, as well as joining Luke for a duet of 'Something Stupid', the well known song performed by Frank and Nancy Sinatra.
Helen has performed at some of Ireland’s most iconic venues, including the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the Theatre Royal Waterford, the Lark Concert Hall in Dublin, Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick, and as a regular featured performer at the Powerscourt Hotel in Enniskerry.
Ireland's 'King of Swing' Luke Thomas and The Swing Cats will celebrate 100 years of swing music with a musical timeline of classics from the 1920s to the modern day featuring songs such as 'Sing Sing Sing', 'Puttin’ on The Ritz', 'Just a Gigolo' and 'Mack The Knife'.
