Former Taoiseach in attendance as Edenderry Fianna Fáil stalwart is honoured

Former Taoiseach Brian Cowen was on-hand to present Edenderry Cumann Fianna Fáil stalwart Michael 'Mick' Murphy with a token of appreciation recently.

According to Edenderry Cumann FF Cllr Claire Murray, the Cumann met to discuss some local issues on the occasion, but the main order of business was to present lifetime member and party stalwart 'Mick' with a token of thanks and recognition for all his work in the party.

'Mick' Murphy is a resident in Clonmore and originally from Lucan in Dublin. He has lived in Offaly for many years.

Cllr Murray said: “Michael is a long-standing member of Fianna Fáil and has done so much with and for the party in Edenderry and Offaly. He has spent countless hours canvassing and contributing to the party, both locally and nationally, and is dedicated to contributing to his area and the improvements needed in his locality.”

Cllr Murray added that 'Mick' recently lost his dear wife, Muriel, who was also 'a proud party member'.

“We wish Mick a lifetime of peace and happiness and thank him sincerely for all he has done for the party,” said Cllr Murray.
