Gareth completes his 200th parkrun in Offaly

Gareth Madden completed his 200th parkrun at Mountlucas parkrun in Offaly this weekend. He was joined by his proud wife, Michelle, and daughters Clíona and Sinéad.

Gareth completed his first parkrun in July 2017 and has been attending regularly since then, as both a participant and a volunteer.

Incredibly, he has completed all but one of his 200 parkruns at Mountlucas parkrun. Gareth brought along a selection of cake and sweet treats to share with other participants.

Speaking after the event, he said: "Thanks to everyone who ran at Mountlucas parkrun this morning, Saturday, August 22. I genuinely enjoyed sharing the chats and the cakes with you all at the finish line".

There was also cake at Mountlucas parkrun the previous week when Michael Kearney completed his 250th parkrun.

Speaking after his milestone, Michael said: "Parkrun has become such a part of my routine. I think I've only missed about 12 parkruns since I first starting coming to Mountlucas parkrun about 7 years ago.

"It's not about running every Saturday- sometimes you'll just walk it and you'll always meet someone to chat with on the way around, and get the same encouragement from the volunteers at the finish line."

Michael Kearney completes his 250th parkrun.

Other milestones achieved in the last two weeks at Mountlucas parkrun include: Richie Farrell and Noeleen Dempsey, who both completed their 25th parkrun, Gordon Nutterfield who completed his 100th parkrun, Edward O'Loughlin who completed his 150th parkrun, and John McManus who completed his 200th parkrun. Well done everyone!
