Kilcormac's Fiesta Hall officially opens following refurbishment

The official opening of Kilcormac's Fiesta Hall took place yesterday, Thursday, September 3.

Offaly Local Development welcomed the community of Kilcormac and the surrounding parish to come along to Fiesta Hall to celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished Fiesta.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore the newly refurbished facilities, meet the team from Offaly Local Development Company (OLDC) and discover more about the activities, programmes and opportunities that are taking place at Fiesta.

Roisin Lennon CEO Offaly Local Development Company said: “Fiesta Hall has been part of the fabric of Kilcormac for more than 60 years, and we are delighted to see this much-loved building begin an exciting new chapter.

"The refurbishment has respected the history and character of the building while creating a modern, welcoming space with opportunities for learning, creativity, enterprise and community development.”

The Fiesta Hall was built in 1961 by local businessman Paddy McCormack and has stood as a landmark in the town for more than 60 years.

Its distinctive Art Deco-style building has served the community in many different ways over the decades, as a cinema, dance hall, theatre, courthouse, bingo hall and community venue.

Now, following an extensive refurbishment, the historic building is entering an exciting new chapter.

The renovation has retained important heritage features, including elements of the original façade, cinema seating and dance floor materials, while introducing modern facilities designed to support community development, learning, enterprise, creativity and sustainability.

Today, Fiesta is being developed as a hub for creativity, sustainability and community development, with facilities including office, training, conference, exhibition and enterprise space.
