Ploughing on: Offaly couple receive special wedding day escort

Offaly newly weds Shauna Larkin and Ryan Coughlan made a grand entrance on their wedding day this week, as they evaded National Ploughing Championship traffic with a special Garda escort.

With the National Ploughing Championships taking place in Screggan, and the Mucklagh area largely closed to traffic, the "happy couple" needed assistance in getting to and from their big day.

Offaly Roads Policing Unit stepped up to the mark for the occasion, ensuring safe delivery of the lovely bride and groom to their ceremony.

"From wedding bells to blue lights, we were delighted to help make sure the happy couple got safely to their celebrations," An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly wrote in a post shared to social media.

"Congratulations to the newlyweds Shauna and Ryan — and thank you for letting us be part of your special day!"
