Birr to come alive for this year's Folkfest

Numerous venues in Birr are set to come alive over the course of the next few days, as the 2027 Birr Folkfest kicks into action.

Large crowds will be expected to converge at the various venues in and around the town from Thursday, September 24 until Sunday, September 27.

The event organisers publicly shared its line-up earlier this week, promising to bring 'a fantastic weekend of traditional Irish music, folk singing, sessions and plenty more to Birr'.

Events will begin on Thursday night at Kelly's on the Gree n with music from Keelan McGrath, Eamon Ryan, Willie Holmes, Michael Buckley and Micheál Guinan.

Throughout Friday, entertainment will be staged at The Fighting Cocks, Dooly's Hotel, The Chestnut, Market House Tavern, Haverty's, Craughwell's, Whelahan's, Nolan's, and Kelly's on the Green. Many of the same venues will also host events on Saturday, as well as Molloy's and The Thatch.

After a similarly busy day of entertainment on Sunday, Birr Folkfest will conclude at Haverty's with a singing sessions with Alan and Mark Guinan.

As part of events, cafe’s in Birr will also be bringing some daytime musical entertainment including at The Loft Café, The New Mill Café, The Villa, The Stables, The Courtyard Café (Birr Castle), Emma's Café, and Woodfields Café. These events will take place between Friday and Sunday.
