Tullamore school crowned National WEEE Battery Recycling Champions

Tullamore's Sacred Heart School have been crowned National Champions for the WEEE Battery Recycling Competition in aid of the Laura Lynn Foundation.

Students and staff collected a total of 2108kg of batteries between November 2025 and April 2026, the equivalent of 104,500 batteries.

Each battery collected helped raise valuable funds for the Laura Lynn Foundation, with KMK Metals Recycling collection vans visiting the school every few weeks to collect the batteries.

During the campaign, members of the school’s Green Team received an informative, engaging presentation from KMK Metals Recycling about the life cycle of batteries and the purpose they serve after being recycled.

An average of 180 batteries per student was collected over the campaign.
