TY students welcomed into the local Gardaí experience

Transition Year students from around the county have been welcomed into the ranks of An Garda Síochana.

The students were attending a week-long work experience with Gardaí attached to the Offaly Community Policing Unit.

The week offered the students insight into the wide range of roles and responsibilities within An Garda Síochána.

Throughout the week, the students had the opportunity to attend presentations from a variety of specialist policing units, visit the Garda College and different courts, as well as learning more about the work carried out by other emergency services.

An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly said that the week provided 'a fantastic opportunity' for students to gain a greater understanding of policing, community safety, and the vital role played by the various services in supporting communities.

It thanked everyone who took time to meet with the students, share their knowledge, and 'help make the week such a positive and informative experience'.

In a post on social media, An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly wished all the students the very best in their future studies and careers, adding that 'hopefully we will see some of the students back in uniform in years to come'.
