NEMDA Strategic Plan launched at Esker Arts event

The Strategic Plan (2026–2029) for the Network of Ethnic Minority DSGBV Advocates (NEMDA) was launched in Esker Arts this week.

Mayor of Galway Helen Ogbu and Cathaoirleach Cllr. Declan Harvey of Offaly County Council helped to launch the plan on Wednesday, October 21.

The NEMDA Strategic Plan sets out a vision and priorities for strengthening responses to domestic, sexual and gender-based violence affecting migrant and ethnic minority women and families.

The plan represents an important step forward in identifying the changes needed across services, communities, policy and systems.

Keynote speaker Professor (Hon) Roxanne Khan, PhD, spoke about Honor-based abuse and the Three-Phase Model of Perpetration (Control, Punish, Protect) at the event.

Led by migrant women, NEMDA Ireland is an initiative that works alongside the National Women's Council of Ireland and the Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service (ODVSS) to support survivors and clear pathways for ethnic minority communities facing domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence (DSGBV).
