Pride of Place win for Kilcormac group
Kilcormac Development Association was announced as joint winners of the Inclusive Communities Award at the 2026 IPB Pride of Place Awards.
The Offaly group was chosen along with Newport Community Centre in Tipperary as joint winners of the category at the awards ceremony on Saturday night at the Convention Centre in Dublin.
IPB Pride of Place in association with Co-operation Ireland is an all-island competition that acknowledges the work of communities all over the island of Ireland.
The competition is based on communities demonstrating directly to the judges their pride in their place by oral presentations where they highlight community activities, culture and many other aspects that contribute to their pride of place. It is also important that the community demonstrates a real partnership with their local authority and shows that all sectors of the community are included.
The judges described Kilcormac Development Association as "a local development group helping build an inclusive community through shared facilities, activities and resident involvement".
In a post online, Kilcormac Development Association said it was incredibly proud and delighted at the award. "This fantastic achievement is a reflection of the dedication of our volunteers, members and the wider Kilcormac community, whose ongoing commitment, hard work and community spirit continue to make Kilcormac a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.
"We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Offaly County Council and IPB Insurance for their ongoing support, encouragement and commitment to community development. Your support plays a vital role in helping communities like ours grow, thrive and create positive opportunities for everyone.
"This award belongs to our entire community, and we look forward to continuing our work to make Kilcormac an even better place to live, work and belong.Thank you to everyone who has supported KDA on this journey. This achievement is something we can all be proud of!"
