Offaly TY students receive electoral education

The Transition Year students from Tullamore College recently attended a presentation by the Electoral Commission to observe the work it does and how the voting system operates.

Afterwards, a group of students conducted a mock ballot count based on votes taken during the SHINE festival in Waterford.

The Electoral Commission, established in 2023, is an election commission with responsibility for the oversight of all elections in Ireland, including electoral operations, constituency reviews and electoral integrity.

The school thanked Sarah Keaveney, Jennifer Clancy and Eimear Bannister from the Electoral Commission for facilitating the presentation and ballot count.
