Bridgerton actress with Offaly ties tired of ‘boring’ body comments

Galway actress Nicola Coughlan, who has deep ties to Offaly, has said she finds discussion around her body to be 'boring' and would rather people focus on her work.

The Bridgerton actress, who stars as Penelope Featherington in the popular Netflix seires, has strong roots in Geashill, as her late father, Martin Coughlan, hailed from the village. She is also well known for her role as Clare Devlin in Derry Girls.

She has long received comments on her body and weight, and recently told Elle magazine she is unimpressed with the conversation around body positivity.

“People talked about how I was plus size, and I was like, How f*cked are we that I am the biggest woman you want to see on screen?” she said.

"It’s really hard when you work on something for months of your life, you don’t see your family, you are really dedicated yourself, and then it comes down to what you look like – it’s so f*cking boring.”
