Greenan claims silver medal at Para Cycling Championships
Mountbolus cyclist Sinéad Greenan achieved silver medal success at the 2026 UEC Para Cycling European Road Championships in Maniago and Montereale Valcellina, Italy, at the weekend.
Making their European Championship debut together, Greenan, who is visually impaired, and her partner, Paris 2024 Olympian Alice Sharpe, were second in the Women's B Road Race on Sunday, following a fourth place in the Women's B Time Trial the previous day.
The silver medal complements the pair's podium finish at the 2026 Para Cycling Road World Cup in Gistel, Belgium, when they achieved bronze medals.
Greenan was one of 12 Irish para cyclists who enjoyed a phenomenal weekend in Italy, winning seven medals at the championships.
Twelve athletes represented Ireland across the three days of competition, with the squad made up of paralympians, established international riders and athletes making their European Championship debut.
Ireland finished the championships with seven medals in total, including two gold, one silver and four bronze.
The timing of the results is significant, with the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships coming up in Huntsville, Alabama this September.
After seven European medals in Italy, the Irish squad will now turn their focus to the next major test on the international calendar.
