Offaly GAA launches major 'Club & County' fundraising cycle for August Bank Holiday
Offaly GAA has announced the launch of a major Club & County Fundraising Cycle, which will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 3.
The aims to raise funds for both local clubs, and for Offaly GAA, with funds raised being split 50% to the participant’s nominated club, and 50% supporting county activities and development.
Offaly GAA is hoping to have representative from GAA, Camogie and LGFA clubs from across the county, as well as cycling clubs and schools.
Participants can take part either individually or as part of a relay team, and all types of bicycles are welcome, including both traditional and battery-powered bikes.
Two 90km routes have been planned for the day.
Route one will begin at Faithful Fields and travel through Rath, Kinnitty, Clareen, Crinkle, Birr, Banagher, Cloghan, Ferbane and Clara before finishing at Glenisk O’Connor Park.
Route two will start from Glenisk O’Connor Park and pass through Cappincur, Ballinagar, Daingean, Croghan, Rhode, Edenderry, Clonbullogue, Bracknagh, Gracefield and Raheen before returning to Tullamore.
Organisers are aiming to coordinate the final stages of both routes to allow cyclists on the concluding legs to arrive together at the finish line.
The event will conclude with a BBQ and refreshments at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore.
