Clara singer dedicates debut single to great-grandmother
Clara native Katie Healy has released her debut single, Wildflower Soul, a deeply personal song written in memory of her beloved great-grandmother, Kathleen Duffy.
The 22-year-old nursing student, who studies at Technological University of the Shannon in Athlone, said the release holds special significance, as she chose to launch the song on what would have been her great-grandmother’s birthday, Wednesday, August 5.
Dedicating the song to her late great-grandmother, Katie said: “This song holds a very special place in my heart as it was written in memory of my beloved Great-Granny Kathleen Duffy. Releasing it on what would have been her birthday makes this moment even more meaningful. Happy Birthday, Granny Duffy, this one is for you.”
Katie has thanked her family and friends for their support throughout her musical journey, while also giving special recognition to Nathan Meehan for his work on the song and for his encouragement, kindness and belief in her.
She said the support she has received has helped turn her dream of creating and sharing music into reality.
Wildflower Soul is now available to stream on Spotify, Amazon Music and other major streaming platforms.
