Ukraine's Independence Day to be celebrated in Tullamore

A celebration to mark Ukraine's Independence Day will take place in Tullamore this weekend.

Members of the Ukrainian community in Offaly, and local people, are expected to come together on Sunday, August 23 at Lloyd Town Park, Tullamore to mark the eastern European country's Independence Day.

The community gathering is organised by Offaly Local Development Company, and will include a charity market, live performances, children's activities, food and drinks, and a celebration of Ukrainian culture and heritage.

Admission is free to the event, which is designed to mark Ukraine's gaining of independence, in 1991, as the Soviet Union dissolved.
