Council calls for an end to illegal dumping in the county
Offaly County Council has called for a zero tolerance policy on illegal dumping in the county.
In a social media post, the local authority cited the recent dumping of construction and demolition waste in the Ferbane/Lumcloon area as "more than just an eyesore".
"It damages the natural beauty of our boglands, harms the environment, and undermines the landscapes that make Offaly so special".
Offaly County Council said it is the responsibility of the public to ensure all hires waste collectors "hold a valid waste collection permit".
"Failing to do so could result in your waste being dumped illegally and may leave you liable for enforcement action.
"Always check credentials before handing over your waste. A simple check can help protect our countryside, preserve our natural heritage, and prevent illegal dumping".
