Offaly school awarded prestigious wellbeing award

An Offaly secondary school has become one of only two schools nationwide to this week be recognised with a prestigious NEART Wellbeing Award.

Coláiste Naomh Cormac, in Kilcormac, has received the award, which are designed to acknowledge post-primary schools in Ireland that show a strong commitment to mental health and wellbeing.

In a social media post announcing the recognition, the school said the award 'celebrates our commitment to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive school community where student wellbeing is at the heart of everything'.

'It reflects the dedication of students, staff, parents and the wider school community in promoting belonging, student voice and positive mental health', the school said, while going on to thank its own wellbeing school ambassadors for their 'leadership and enthusiasm'. The school also thanked Tara Mulhern, NEART Lead, for presenting the award and acknowledging the work taking place across the community.

'Together, we continue to build a school where every student feels valued, supported and connected', Coláiste Naomh Cormac said.

The Neart Wellbeing Award is a national initiative by Jigsaw (the National Centre for Youth Mental Health) in partnership with the Department of Education and National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS).
