Éire Grapple's Deegan continues to make MMA strides

Offaly fighter Ronan Deegan took a major step forward in his professional career on Saturday night when producing an impressive victory on his Cage Warriors debut in front of a sold-out RDS Arena in Dublin.

Representing Éire Grapple, Deegan moved his professional record to a perfect 5-0, securing the fourth finish of his professional career on what was undoubtedly the biggest stage of his career to date.

Cage Warriors is regarded as one of the leading mixed martial arts promotions in the world and has long been recognised as Europe’s premier pathway to the UFC. Competing, and winning, on the promotion represents a significant milestone for any aspiring European fighter.

Deegan faced highly regarded Billy Sutherland, himself an accomplished fighter, who enjoyed a successful amateur career before entering the professional ranks undefeated. It made the victory all the more significant for Deegan as he continues his rapid progression through the professional MMA ranks.

The sold-out RDS provided a spectacular backdrop for the occasion, with a huge contingent travelling from Offaly to support Deegan. His supporters were among the most vocal in the arena and ensured there was a real hometown atmosphere when he made his walk to the cage.
