New group exhibition to open at Esker Arts

A new group exhibition by artists from Offaly and surrounding counties is to open at Esker Arts next week.

The Good Neighbour is curated by Rachel Botha.

In this exhibition the idea of ‘the good neighbour’ is interpreted from multiple positions, from the perspective of a community defined by place, identity or commonality; understood beyond borders in sharing a cause or struggle; while also looking at our relationship with the natural environment. It includes a wide range of practices with artworks in mediums such as painting, video, textile, sculpture and more.

The exhibition includes work by artists and collaborators Ana Aguilar & Martin Ward, Marian Balfe, Emma Barone & Avista Support Services, Sophie Béhal, Pamela de Brí, Millie Case, Tadhg Ó Cuirrín, Jessica Daly, Barry Devery, Owen de Forge, Shane Gannon, Hazel Greene, Christor and Birr Men Together, Noel Hensey, Sheila Hough, Jim Xi Johnson, Leona Kennedy, Frances Kawala, Margaret Maher, Selma Makela, Jane Maxwell, Margo McNulty, Fionna Murray, Jennifer O'Brien, Antoinette O'Mahony, Rónán Ó Raghallaigh, Sinéad Reilly, Heather Rice, Jenny Ryan, Rina Semba and James Wellwood.

All were selected through an open call inviting artists from Offaly and its neighbouring counties Galway, Roscommon, Tipperary, Laois, Westmeath, Kildare and Meath.

The exhibition is kindly supported by the Visual Arts Bursary, Arts Council, Ireland, Offaly Arts Office and Offaly County Council.
