'Incredible diverse fungi' located during local botanist's forest foray

Local botanist Helena Brady recently led a group of 20 enthusiasts on an informative 'Fungi Foray' through Charleville Forest, Tullamore.

The walk was organised by members of Tullamore Tidy Towns Association and took participants through the woods in search of fungi samples for 'educational and identification purposes'.

The Tidy Towns Association said the group came across 'incredible diverse examples of fungi' in the various micro habitats close to different tree specimens. The group also took part in a litter pick of the area.

The Tidy Towns Association extended thanks to walk leader Helena Brady, as well as volunteers from Tullamore Tidy Towns and Offaly Climate & Biodiversity Action Group. It also thanked the Biodiversity Office of Offaly County Council and local landowners for permission to walk.
