Kilcormac students get inspired by former All-Star hurler
Junior Cycle students at Coláiste Naomh Cormac in Kilcormac yesterday (Wednesday) welcomed former All-Star hurler and motivational speaker Tony Griffin to its school, as part of Bí Cineálta Wellbeing Week.
The school has described the event as “an inspiring morning”, saying that Griffin “shared powerful messages on resilience, self-belief, kindness, and having the courage to be the best version of yourself.”
“It was a truly memorable and motivating experience for all who attended,” the school said.
Inspired by Jim Stynes' work with teenagers in Australia, Tony helped bring that work to Ireland and co-founded the Soar Foundation, while also publishing The Teenager's Book of Life.
After his father died from cancer, Tony set-off on a 7,000km cycle across Canada and Ireland in his memory. 'The Ride for the Cure' raised funds for cancer care and research, and that journey became part of his acclaimed memoir, Screaming at the Sky.
