Gardaí probe local teen’s fatal crash
Gardaí in Tullamore have spoken to a number of witnesses to a car crash on Wednesday night, in which a Tullamore teenager died at the scene. The 17-year-old male was the driver of the car, which left the road and struck a fence on the Clonaslee Road between Scrub Cross and Gurteen Bridge at 10.05pm. A single front-seat male passenger was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore where he was treated for minor injuries and then released in the early hours of yesterday (Thursday) morning. Local gardaí said that the road was wet at the time of the crash and it is a dark enough stretch of road. Gardaí said it's a busy stretch of road with a lot of traffic heading in and out to Tullamore. The road which was closed off by Tullamore Gardaí for forensic investigation, was reopened on Thursday afternoon.
