Kelly finishes second in annual Kick Fada event
Offaly goalkeeper Padraig Kelly claimed second place in the tenth annual MBNA Kick Fada competition, with Brian Sheridan from Meath emerging as the winner. The event was held in glorious sunshine in Bray Emmets GAA Club last weekend and Sheridan claimed the title with the second longest kick ever of 71 metres. Shamrocks and Offaly netminder Kelly is a two time champion and he finished in second place this time, with third place going to another former champion, Mayo's Fintan Ruddy. Suzanne Hughes from Ballyboden St Enda's (Dublin) claimed the title of women's MBNA Kick Fada 2009 with a huge 48 metre kick, beating Aisling O hAnnaidh from Bray Emmets to second place, with Geraldine Norton from Wicklow and Emma Dunne (Dublin) sharing third place. RTE's Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh oversaw the day and thrilled the large crowd with his charismatic commentary as they enjoyed the fabulous weather in sunny Wicklow.
