Proceeds of new Pullough song go to Oncology Unit

A new CD by local man Seán Buckley is raising money for the Oncology Unit in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore. To date the CD 'A Little Place Called Pullough' has raised €3,600 and is still selling in music stores. Seán first wrote a poem about his native Pullough and after showing the poem to country music star John Hogan decided to write the song 'A Little Place Called Pullough' after John said the poem would make a lovely song. Seán then began a search for a singer, but he didn't have to look too far as he was friends with local singer Declan Feery. Declan has appeared on television on a number of occasions and was only delighted to record the song and especially when it was for such a worthy cause. Both Declan and Seán then met with Joseph Egan of Nutshed Studio in Clara who assisted and guided them greatly with the recording of the song. Recently courtesy of Josie and Joy Gallagher of the Pullough Inn, the song 'A Little Place Called Pullough' was launched to a packed audience. The people of Pullough and surrounding areas turned out to show their pride in a favourite son who would now put their place on the map. It was fitting that Declan Feery who recorded the song was there to sing it on this special occasion and afterwards contributed to a great night's entertainment. Seán this week thanked all who have made his dream come through, especially his wife, Catherine, daughters Denise and Louise, his mother Mary and brothers and sisters who have been a wonderful source of support and also grandson Brian who is the treasured reason why he continues to appreciate and love life. He would also like to thank those who helped with the launch, sale and purchase of his CD. With the inspiration of his first song that has become such a hit, Seán now looks forward to writing some more songs with his good friend Declan.
